Post-Professional M.Arch. Program Requirements

Applicants are asked to indicate a research interest in one of five territories of investigation (TI).  This selection is formalized at the end of the student's first semester, and determines course and studio options in the second and final semesters of the program. The five territories of investigation are as follows:

  • A/U: Architecture & Urbanism
  • A/E: Architecture & Ecology
  • A/T: Architecture & Technology
  • A/D: Architecture & Discourse
  • A/M: Architecture & Media

ARCH 7111 Design A
Fall. 6 credits. Exploration of themes, methods, and technologies in contemporary design.

ARCH 6110 Graduate Design Seminar
Fall. 3 credits. A companion seminar developing themes explored in Arch 711.

ARCH 6301 Design Research
Fall. 3 credits. Introduction to themes of inquiry in contemporary architecture, including critical motives and research, topical "problems," and materials and tactics of investigation.

ARCH 7912 Design B: Topics Studio
Spring. 6 credits. Graduate vertical research studio.

ARCH 8913 Design C: ADR Project
Summer. 9 credits. Development of a design project in the student's territory of investigation
