Undergraduate Process

Applicants to the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning apply specifically to one of our three departments:

Each year, AAP enrolls approximately 107 new first-year students: 52 in architecture; 30 in art; and 25 in urban and regional studies. In addition, about 15-20 transfer students matriculate in the College annually across the three departments.

Once an application is complete, a faculty committee from the applicant's major makes the admissions decision. Each department has its own admissions criteria and requirements. Please review the following pages carefully:

Applicants who do not meet all admissions requirements and/or fail to meet deadlines will be at a disadvantage in the admissions process.

The AAP Admissions Office is available to answer any questions and can be contacted by mail, e-mail, or phone.

Freshman or Transfer?
Prospective students should apply as freshmen if they
  • will complete secondary school during the current academic year
  • are seeking early admission after their junior year
  • have graduated from secondary school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university

Prospective students should apply as transfer students if they have earned 12 or more college credits since graduating from secondary school.
